11 injured,1 dead in Myrtle Beach officer-involved shooting, SLED investigating

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The State Law Enforcement Division confirmed to WMBF News on Sunday morning that they are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach Police said officers saw a disturbance around 11:50 on Saturday night near the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

Police said 11 individuals were injured and are receiving medical treatment. The individual shot during officer response has died from his injuries.

Police said during the altercation, officers saw someone fire a gun, at which time the department said an officer also fired their weapon.

SLED told WMBF News Reporter Steven Schlink that their investigation is active and more information is expected later on.

Myrtle Beach Police said the officer involved was not injured but they did not say if any other injuries were reported.

“The Myrtle Beach Police Department offers its prayers and deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this incident,” the police department posted on its Facebook page.

The police department is asking anyone with information or video of the shooting to come forward. The information can be shared with SLED or the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 843-918-1382.
