Opening Day of the 2025 Season is here, and the Toronto Blue Jays are already seeing some bad news.
ESPN’s MLB insider Buster Olney reported that the Blue Jays made another contract extension to star first baseman and four-time All-Star selection Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Not only did Guerrero decline the offer, but there also remains a significant gap between the two sides.
During the off-season, Guerrero and the Blue Jays agreed to a one-year; $28.5 million deal in order to avoid arbitration. He is set to be a free agent when he will be entering a prime age of 27.

He will play the 2025 season for the Blue Jays, where he will play the entire season or try to get something in return for him before the trade deadline.
One team that will be a big favorite to land Guerrero either through trade or next free agency are the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox could find the money to pay another superstar, and they have Triston Cases, who is on a one-year contract, at first base. Boston can find a way to make Guerrero happy like they made some of their other superstars happy.
Having Guerrero on the roster would make the Red Sox an instant World Series threat and one of the most feared teams in the league.

Gurerro said recently he is willing to talk to all teams in the off-season, but the Red Sox might try to find a way to convince him early, maybe through a trade.
