Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg had a mini Ghost reunion on the 2025 Oscars red carpet.

The former costars greeted each other moments before the 97th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. In a video shared by Variety on X, the actresses held hands before posing for photos outside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

The red carpet moment comes 35 years after Ghost was released in 1990. The film starred Moore, 62, and Goldberg, 69, alongside Patrick Swayze and Tony Goldwyn. The movie follows Sam Wheat (Swayze) and Molly Jensen (Moore), who are madly in love. However, Sam is murdered by Carl Brunner (Goldwyn), leaving him to returns as a ghost, who is unable to communicate with Molly. He then seeks help from medium Old Mae Brown (Goldberg) to help protect Molly.

Ghost was nominated for five awards and won three at the Oscars in 1991. Goldberg walked away with the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Goldberg recently revealed what convinced her to take the role. “I get a phone call from my agent, Ron Meyer, who says, ‘Patrick Swayze has been hired for this movie. Patrick is not going to do this if you don’t do it. Can you make some time for him and the director to come up?’ ” the EGOT winner told author Dave Karger in his book 50 Oscar Nights.

The director and Swazye flew out to meet Goldberg, and the two of them quickly become friends.

“About 40 minutes go by and Patrick says, ‘Please do this with me,’ ” Goldberg recalled. “I was like, ‘Yeah, okay.’ And that’s how it happened.”

Moore is nominated for her first Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Substance. The actress is coming off a successful award show season after winning a SAG award and Golden Globe for the same role.
