COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — State Route 315 was closed early Thursday morning near downtown Columbus due to flooding, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Northbound lanes were closed at Rich Street and Town Street, while southbound lanes were closed at West Broad Street as of 3:40 a.m.
The flooding came as severe storms swept through central Ohio, leading to numerous tornado warnings. The highway was reopened at around 5 a.m.
Thursday morning storms caused localized flooding, damaged homes from fallen trees and high winds, along with widespread power outages throughout central Ohio.
Several central Ohio counties have reported damage to homes, debris riddled roadways, downed power lines and high water on highways from the onslaught of rain and wind Thursday morning.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office reported trees and power lines down, roofs blown off of houses, and flooding, particularly in New Lexington and Junction City.
“It’s a mess everywhere,” a dispatcher said with the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office in Pickaway County said there are reports of damage in Holland and Ashville, primarily with fallen trees and power lines. That was the case too in Madison County, while Hocking County reported some roads have been closed.
