Tom Hardy’s new crime show breaks record as biggest global series premiere ever for Paramount+

Tom Hardy‘s new crime show has broken a record with its premiere on Paramount+.

MobLand arrived in the US, UK, Canada and Australia on March 30, drawing in 2.2 million viewers with its very first episode. The impressive debut has become the streaming service‘s biggest global series launch ever.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the show tells the story of two rival mob families who clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives.

Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren lead the cast as powerful husband and wife duo Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. They are assisted by their dangerous but loyal ‘fixer’ Harry Da Souza, played by Hardy, who is always on call to attend to any problems.

MobLand was created and written by Ronan Bennett, with Jez Butterworth also serving as a writing. Meanwhile, David C Glasser joins Ritchie and Hardy as an executive producer on the project.

MobLand is a runaway success thanks to the visionary work of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser and brought to life by the exceptional Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren who transport us into a world audiences clearly cannot get enough of,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Co-CEO and President and CEO, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios.

MobLand is yet another proof point for the power of our differentiated model – fewer, bigger, breakthrough series that can cut through the clutter and also builds on our 2024 record success where we finished as the #2 SVOD for original series time spent viewing.”
