FTR turn heel, send Cope to the hospital at AEW Dynasty

As Rated FTR were trying to take Death Riders AEW Trios titles at Dynasty tonight (April 6), the bigger story was whether or not longtime tag partners Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler could co-exist long enough to do so.

Tensions were evident early, leading their friend and partner Adam Copeland to play peacemaker. It worked for a while as Wheeler took the fight to Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta.

But cracks emerged in the challenger’s front when Harwood intercepted a tag his partner meant for Cope. He did well for a time, but quickly found himself in jeopardy due to Death Riders’ teamwork.

Dax eventually made the tag to Cope, who cleaned house. It was far from over however. Things got chaotic after Wheeler fought to break up a submission Harwood was trapped in. The bout eventually wound to a moment where Harwood was alone with Yuta. He used Bryan Danielson’s knee strike to put FTR bald down, and Wheeler’s teammates kept FTR hair from breaking up the pin this time.

To cement their (overdue, in this writer’s opinion) return to villainy, the Top Guys clowned around and prevented the medical team to checking on Copeland and his surgically-repaired neck. The announce team openly wondered if this was the last time we’ll seeCope in the ring while my main man Kyle Decker announced in the Cageside “offices” that he “knows a partner Edge could go get to help” with FTR…
