The first major of the year on the men’s golf calendar will have fans from around the world focused on Augusta National Golf Club as the famous venue hosts the 89th Masters, with the tournament running from April 10-13.
Practice rounds begin Monday, April 7, with the Par 3 Contest set for Wednesday, the day before the first round begins.
Augusta is a place where legends are made and there are a number of players looking to leave their mark in one of the most famous tournaments in the world.
Here are five things to watch as the 89th Masters approaches.
Is Tiger Woods playing in the 2025 Masters?

According to his original social media post after the injury, a full recovery is expected for the five-time Masters champion.
Former Masters champ makes his return
For the first time since 2019, Angel Cabrera will join the field at Augusta. The 2009 Masters champion did not play in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic before spending 30 months in prison for domestic violence. He was invited in 2024, but didn’t return due to an expired visa.
The 55-year-old last made the cut in 2016, where he tied for 24th. Cabrera has six top-10 Masters finishes in his career.
Still searching for career slam, Rory McIlroy hot coming into Augusta
Since winning the Open Championship in 2014, Rory McIlroy’s search for the career grand slam ― and any other major titles ― has remained elusive.
The 35-year-old from Northern Ireland enters his 17th Masters looking to erase the memories of a 2011 implosion and runner-up finish in 2022.
The four-time major champion does have something different going for him in 2025. McIlroy is coming into Augusta with a pair of wins on the PGA Tour (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, Players Championship), something that hasn’t happened in his career.
LIV Golf players in the 2025 Masters field
There are 12 LIV Golf players in the 2025 Masters field, including former champions Sergio Garcia (2017), Dustin Johnson (2020), Phil Mickelson (2004, 2006, 2010), Jon Rahm (2023), Patrick Reed (2018), Charl Schwartzel (2011) and Bubba Watson (2012, 2014).
