Florida rallied from a double-digit second-half deficit to win the national title. Will Richard led the Gators with 18 points. L.J. Cryer had 19 points for Houston.
Florida grabbed its first lead since 8-6 when they went up 64-63 with 46 seconds left. The Gators outscored the Cougars 8-3 over the final 4:17 of the game.

The Gators, the No. 1 seed in the West Region, defeated No. 16 seed Norfolk State in the opening round, 95-69, before taking down No. 8 seed UConn in the Round of 32, 77-75. They eliminated Maryland in the Sweet 16, 87-71 and took down No. 3 seed Texas Tech in the Elite Eight, 84-79. They beat No. 1 seed Auburn in the Final Four, 79-73 before winning the national championship game over the No. 1 seeded Cougars.

This is Florida’s third NCAA championship. The Gators also won March Madness in 2006 and 2007.
They were the runner-up in 2000.
Florida also made the Final Four in 1994 and 2014.
