Trader Joe’s is bracing for lines out the door as its cult-favorite mini tote bags return to shelves.
The grocery chain said the $3 mini tote bags— a shrunken version of its iconic reusable canvas shopping bags — will relaunch on April 8.
When first launched in September 2024, the limited-edition minis went viral and quickly sold out amid a social media frenzy.
TikTok and Instagram lit up with fans calling them perfect for picnics and everyday errands.
And that social media popularity made some second-hand sellers a lot of money.
The hype also sparked a resale craze, with bags popping up on eBay and Poshmark for anywhere from $100 to $1,000.
The rush caused Trader Joe’s to limit sales to eight per shopper.

The mini bag has the same length on its handles to ensure that shoppers can still easily open the main compartment.
It’s even made from the same material: Trader Joe’s uses the same cotton and polyester blend to make the smaller bag.
This time, the bags will come in pale pastel colors: pink, lavender, blue, and cyan.
Previous launches of the mini tote looked exactly like the store’s regular bags. They were white with arm loops that matched their primary-color bottoms.
The iconic red Trader Joe’s circular emblem was stitched into the middle of the white canvass.
Trader Joe’s didn’t immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
Each year, the grocery store with a near cult following polls its customers to find out which products are grocery shoppers’ favorites. They’re called the Customer Choice Awards.
