The crossover of all crossovers is still eight days away, but Law & Order: Organized Crime fans finally have something to salivate on until that iconic moment arrives.
Peacock on Wednesday dropped a first-look trailer in which fans finally see Christopher Meloni’s Detective Elliot Stabler reuniting with Mariska Hargitay’s Detective Olivia Benson.
The dramatic moment happens in the hospital, where Stabler’s recovering from some horrific accident that has rendered him unconscious. You hear Benson’s voice utter her former partner’s name as fans get a close-up look at Stabler’s injuries. The camera then cuts to a distressed Benson looking over him.
Hargitay’s character, of course, was partnered with Meloni’s character for 13 seasons on Law & Order: SVU. She teased last May that a crossover was in the works, and not only has that plan materialized but there’s now a date set.
Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime drops April 17 at 10 p.m. ET on Peacock. The streaming giant will premiere two episodes, followed by a new episode every Thursday. Hargitay’s guest starring role comes in Episode 2.
Law & Order: Organized Crime, moving from NBC to Peacock, stars Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Rick Gonzalez and Dean Norris.
Meloni’s Stabler returns to New York after a decade abroad to rebuild his life following a devastating personal loss. Season 5 “explores the dangerous worlds of cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism and a crime family intent on repaying Stabler for the injury he did them in Rome. As his worlds collide, Stabler will put everything on the line to protect the vulnerable and fight for justice.”
Meloni executive produces alongside the venerable Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, John Shiban, Mike Slovis, Peter Jankowski and Tim Walsh.
Law & Order: Organized Crime drops Episodes 1 and 2 on April 17 exclusively on Peacock.
