I’m Starting To Believe That 9-1-1 May Actually Kill Bobby After ABC’s Official Update

Spoiler alert: The following article contains major spoilers for 9-1-1 season 8’s upcoming episodes.

A handful of clues regarding what’s to come in the remaining episodes of 9-1-1 season 8 suggest that we should all be preparing to say goodbye to Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash. Despite the nature of the ABC procedural drama, 9-1-1 has yet to produce a main character death throughout its eight seasons. Many people have died, of course, but no series regulars have suffered this horrific fate. So, the demise of Bobby, one of the most important characters in the 9-1-1 universe, would be a complete shocker and significantly affect the TV series and all its players.

ABC releases new episodes of 9-1-1 season 8 on Thursdays at 8 pm ET, followed by Doctor Odyssey season 1 at 9 pm ET and Grey’s Anatomy season 21 at 10 pm ET. Aside from Doctor Odyssey (which remains on the bubble as of the writing of this article), the network renewed 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy for the 2025–2026 TV season.

Krause has starred as Bobby, one of 9-1-1‘s most likable characters, since season 1. Bobby has been one of the TV show’s constants over the course of its run, and losing him would be completely devastating, not only to us, the fans, but also to 9-1-1‘s fictional world and its characters. Unfortunately, this is a reality we might have to live with once 9-1-1 season 8 comes to an end.

Bobby Will Die In 9-1-1 Season 8 Theory Explained

Set Photos Spoil Bobby’s Funeral

On March 30, 2025, a photo from the set of an upcoming episode of 9-1-1 season 8 leaked, revealing a devastating spoiler. X user @stllakidd shared a picture of the cast filming a scene involving a Station 118 firetruck carrying a casket and displaying Bobby’s turnout coat, implying that he is inside said casket. Meanwhile, a video from the same X user showed the characters, led by Angela Bassett’s Athena Grant, walking behind the firetruck in formal black clothing. The funeral scene is shocking, to say the least. Consequently, many started spiraling over what this means for the show.

Near-death experiences can also result in visions, meaning Bobby could come close to dying and imagine his funeral and then be saved at the last second.

The 9-1-1 season 8 set photos indicate that Bobby will die before or during the finale, which is set to debut in May. Some are hesitant to believe this is true, which is understandable. Many times, TV series feature funeral sequences that are simply pulled from a character’s nightmare. Near-death experiences can also result in visions, meaning Bobby could come close to dying and imagine his funeral and then be saved at the last second. Unfortunately, the aforementioned set photo and video aren’t the only pieces of evidence implying Bobby’s death in 9-1-1 season 8.

Related9-1-1 is finally addressing the possibility of a romance between Buck and Eddie in season 8, but only Buck’s feelings have been discussed.

9-1-1 Doesn’t Have Any Reason To Kill Bobby, But A New ABC Reveal Supports The Idea

An Upcoming Episode Title Hints At A Major Death

As of 9-1-1 season 8, episode 14, there has been no indication that Peter Krause is leaving the show or that his character is going to die. However, with the leaked set photos and videos and a new update concerning an upcoming episode, Bobby’s fate in season 8 is looking quite dire. According to TVLine, 9-1-1 season 8, episode 16 is titled “The Last Alarm.” If I wasn’t scared that Bobby would die before, I certainly am now.

“The Last Alarm” seemingly references the tradition in the firefighting world of ringing a bell to signify the end of someone’s career. When a firefighter retires, dies, or leaves their job for any other reason, their station performs the “last alarm” to bid them farewell. So, the title of the upcoming episode suggests that a firefighter is dying in 9-1-1 season 8. It’s possible that “The Last Alarm” could mean that someone is retiring from the 118, but given the leaked set photos and videos, it’s more likely that the characters and fans must say goodbye to a firefighter before the season ends.

What Bobby’s Potential Death Means For 9-1-1 Season 9

The 118 Would Need A New Captain

If Bobby dies in 9-1-1 season 8, the 118 would have to find themselves a new captain in season 9 (which has already been greenlit by ABC). On the emotional side of things, though, the characters will spend a majority of the upcoming season mourning Peter Krause’s character. Bobby means a lot to many people in the ABC procedural drama. His wife, Athena, and all his firefighters would be devastated if Bobby actually dies, meaning his death would have a ripple effect on the rest of 9-1-1, even past season 9.
