Emily in Paris season 5 is on the way—but apparently, one familiar face will not be coming back. The show is due to start production next month, but, according to Deadline, the official cast list will not include one of the original series regulars. It seems that Camille Razat, who played Camille, Gabriel’s girlfriend and later fiancée, will be exiting the show.

The news comes after series creator Darren Star, hinted that Razat’s role on the show might change. After an interviewer suggested that Camille’s character had taken a backseat in season 4, Star told TVLine, “I think that’s a question. Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don’t necessarily have to see them. We may or may not. I don’t know how much of Camille we’ll see next season.” However, he added that she might make a return even if it wasn’t as a series regular. “But again, she’s part of the world of the series. I’m not sure how soon we’ll see her, but it doesn’t mean, again, that we won’t be seeing her,” he said.

In an interview with TheWrap, Star echoed the same sentiments: “I think she’s always going to be part of the series—she’s part of their world and I would never rule out the fact that we’re going to see her again. Her story is going to continue,” he said.
Camille’s story wrapped up fairly neatly in season 4, when she discovered the baby she was expected with ex Gabriel was, in fact, a false pregnancy.

According to new reports, the Netflix show is set to film first in Rome and later in Paris. The cast will include Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as her boss, Sylvie Grateau, Ashley Park, as bestie Mindy Chen, Lucas Bravo, as Emily’s Parisian love interest Gabriel, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, and William Abadie as Antoine Lambert, and Lucien Laviscount as Emily’s former boyfriend Alfie. Eugenio Franceschini, Emily’s Italian love interest, Marcello, will be promoted to recurring character.
The news of Razat’s departure from Emily in Paris comes after speculation about another cast member’s future in the show. Last October, Bravo hinted that he wasn’t entirely happy with his character’s development in the show. “I don’t really have any freedom [in the show] and as people are starting to give it to me elsewhere, I am getting a taste for it,” he said to The Independent. “As for playing Gabriel, I don’t understand him anymore. But we’ll see… Darren [Star] has plans. I’m just following it.”
