Jason Kidd Sends 6-Word Message After Anthony Davis Injury

The Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies clashed in a high-stakes battle for the final playoff spot on Friday night. Despite a strong effort, the Mavericks fell short as Memphis controlled much of the contest en route to a 120-106 victory, securing their place in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

The short-handed Mavericks came into the game with high hopes, leaning heavily on forward Anthony Davis, who has been the team’s brightest spark since returning from injury. Davis, acquired in the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, has endured a tough stretch in Dallas, including a setback in his debut against Houston earlier this year.

On Friday, however, the 10-time All-Star delivered a masterclass performance, finishing with a game-high 40 points, along with nine rebounds and two assists. His dominant outing kept Dallas within striking distance until late in the fourth quarter.

Concern swept through the Mavericks’ camp when Davis exited the game after suffering what appeared to be a leg injury. Though he returned to the floor, the forward looked noticeably hampered, sparking questions about his condition.

When asked postgame about Davis’ exit, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd clarified the situation:

“The game [was] getting out of hand,” Kidd said, suggesting the decision was score-related.

With the Mavericks now officially out of playoff contention, Davis will turn his attention to recovery and preparing for next season.

Dallas could enter the 2025-26 campaign with a healthy roster, including a potential return from Kyrie Irving, who missed the latter part of this season with a torn ACL and may not return until at least January, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania
