The Dodgers series with the Rangers this weekend is on an island, in that it was preceded by an off day on Thursday and will be followed by an off day on Monday. The series finale at Globe Life Field comes a little before noon for us on the west coast, with a 11:35 a.m. PT start.
Tyler Mahle starts the series finale for the Rangers, having allowed only two runs over his first four starts, with 21 strikeouts in 19⅔ innings. It’ll be the first time Tyler Glasnow starts against another starting pitcher also named Tyler.
I have no idea how many Tyler vs. Tyler starting pitching matchups there have been in MLB history, but in 2022 the Dodgers and Tigers went one step further with two left-handed starters named Tyler A. with a middle name of John. Tyler Anderson and the Dodgers beat Tyler Alexander and the Tigers in that one.
