Michigan State basketball had identified Darius Adams as one of their top and most coveted prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5 guard from the familiar La Lumiere School was a plan A, top priority for Tom Izzo and his staff.
Unfortunately for MSU, they finished in a very close second place to UConn, who earned the commitment from Adams.
Turning the tables more fortunately for the Spartans, Adams has decided to back off of his Pledge to UConn, after Dan Hurley and his staff overloaded the guard position, causing a log jam.
With the Spartans having a very clear need to add a guard, looking to get back into the mix with Adams would be very wise for Izzo. Things did not end poorly, or on a bad note, and the Spartans will still have a strong relationship with Adams and his family.
Adams is a 5-star prospect and ranked as the No. 23 overall recruit to go along with the No. 4 combo-guard in the nation. He was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American this season.
Early indications show that Alabama will be a factor in the re-opening of this recruitment, and with Tennessee also finishing in the top-3, and in need of guard help, be on the lookout for them to also get into the mix. It is expected that the Spartans will make a call to gauge interest with Adams.
Entering Adams into the fold would be a massively good move for the Spartans to make heading into the 2025-26 season.
