The revival of American Idol continues with its eighth season on ABC and 23rd overall. The Top 24 hopefuls were chosen from those who survived Hollywood Week, where each had to sing in the Showstopper round to convince the three judges — Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — that they deserved a place in the American Idol Top 24.

In turn, each of these finalists performed for America’s vote from Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii. Grammy winner Ashanti and Grammy nominee Josh Groban served as mentors alongside this season’s Artist in Residence, Jelly Roll. After returning to Hollywood, the Top 20 were revealed and continued to perform for America’s vote each week until a champion was crowned.

Season 23 of American Idol premiered Sunday, March 9 on ABC will continue to air on Sunday and Monday nights until the live finale in May.
