Could Pete Carroll reunite with a former Seahawks receiver in Vegas?

Ever since Pete Carroll took the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching job back in January, there have been numerous rumors connecting Vegas to players that Carroll coached during his stint with the Seattle Seahawks. On Wednesday, those rumors only intensified, with the news that two particularly notable players could be available this offseason. On Wednesday, Seattle officially released All-Pro wide receiver Tyler Lockett. In addition, two-time Pro Bowler DK Metcalf requested a trade from the team.

Both Lockett and Metcalf starred on Carroll’s Seahawks teams. Lockett played ten years for Seattle and had four consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons from 2019-2022. Since being drafted in 2019, Metcalf has had at least 900 yards in all six of his years with the Seahawks.

So could Carroll reunite with one of his former star wideouts in the Sin City? Here is what Raiders Wire had to say about the possibility:

“Lockett and Metcalf shared the field in Seattle under Pete Carroll for five seasons in Seattle, with the duo twice putting up 1000-yard seasons at the same time.

At 32 years of age, it’s been a couple years since Lockett was among the NFL’s best receivers. Which is why Lockett is about to be a free agent and the 27-year-old Metcalf would cost something in trade.

Metcalf would be just the type of the receiver the Raiders need right now and would give the Raiders next QB a big, strong target. It would also offer Carroll a familiar face in his offense.”

During his time in the Pacific Northwest, Carroll signed/drafted numerous USC stars from his time in Cardinal and Gold. After heading to Vegas, it is possible that he could follow a similar strategy and bring along some stars who played under him in Seattle.
