The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off tonight, April 24, at 8:00 pm ET. It will be the first time since 2021, when the draft was hosted in Cleveland, that the Browns will have a first round pick of their own at No. 2 overall. What time will that pick take place?
Teams can take up to ten minutes to make their pick in the first round. If the draft started on the dot, that might lead you to believe the Browns would be on the clock at 8:10 pm. However, there are a few factors to consider:
- Typically, at 8:00 pm, there is still a little bit of stalling before NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell comes out to the stage to welcome everyone to the draft festivities.
- The first team, the Tennessee Titans, should know who they are going to select (likely Cam Ward). In recent years, though, instead of teams with obvious teams turning in the card immediately, which could put Cleveland on the clock sooner, we’ve seen them drag things out to their full allotment of time.
- For some more perspective, if we go back to last year’s draft, the Washington Commanders officially made the pick of QB Jayden Daniels at No. 2 overall at 8:26 pm. Other tweets suggested that the Commanders went on the clock at 8:17 pm.
Because the Browns pick so early, and if you’re a football fan, you should really just tune in around 8:00 pm to catch the beginning of the draft. However, if you truly just want to know when the Browns will be on the clock and making their pick, we suggest tuning in between 8:15 pm to 8:30 pm.
Who will that pick be at No. 2 overall? According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Travis Hunter remains the heavy favorite for Cleveland, if they do not trade down. The odds for the rest of the contenders at No. 2 overall are as follows:
Travis Hunter -1200
Abdul Carter +600
Shedeur Sanders +1800
Cam Ward +13000
Ashton Jeanty +14000
Mason Graham +15000
Will Campbell +15000
Jalon Walker +15000
Tetairoa McMillan +15000
Armand Membou +15000
Kelvin Banks +15000
Jaxson Dart +15000
