Former USC star MiLaysia Fulwiley has announced her transfer school. Here’s where she’s going

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Former University of South Carolina star MiLaysia Fulwiley has announced her transfer destination, and it’s one of the Gamecocks top SEC rivals.

Fulwiley announced on social media Friday she’s heading to LSU to play for coach Kim Mulkey. The post didn’t say much, other than, “Geaux Tigers,” accompanied by a composite picture of her wearing an LSU uniform with a photo of Mulkey behind her.

News broke back on April 11 that Fulwiley was entering the transfer portal. It took about a week for her to confirm the news.

Fulwiley had just completed her sophomore season at South Carolina, helping lead the team to a second straight national title game appearance. She was second on the team in scoring with nearly 12 points a game.

She wasn’t a starter but frequently played key roles in contests, often being brought in to spark a rally or run. For her efforts, she was named the SEC Sixth Woman of the Year and was All-SEC Second Team. She was also a finalist for the Dawn Staley award, a national recognition for players who exhibit good ball-handling skills, show an ability to distribute the basketball, and possesses the will to win.

She was also named to the SEC Tournament All-Tournament Team as USC won the league postseason title.

Fulwiley is a Columbia native who starred at W.J. Keenan High School. She was one of the top recruits in the nation in 2023, and her play, including her ball-handling and drives to the basket, garnered national attention even before she ever took the court for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks have gotten two high profile transfers this offseason: One was Ta’Niya Latson, who came from Florida State and was the nation’s leading scorer, and the other was Madina Okot, who left Mississippi State.
