The Detroit Tigers are getting an extra day off.
The Tigers’ series opener against the Baltimore Orioles scheduled for Friday night at Comerica Park was postponed due to expected inclement weather.
It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader. The first game will start at 1:10 p.m., as originally scheduled, while the makeup game will start at 6:10 p.m. Tickets held for Friday night’s game will be valid for the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Manager AJ Hinch said Casey Mize would start Game 1. Jackson Jobe, who was scheduled to pitch Saturday, will have his next start pushed into the Houston series next week. The Tigers are listing TBA for Game 2.
It’s possible they will utilize the 27th player and call up Keider Montero to start. He last pitched Monday and was optioned back to Toledo. He would be on turn to make the start.
The Tigers were off Thursday, after taking two of three games from the San Diego Padres to win their sixth series of the season. The Tigers (15-10) entered Friday’s games leading the American League Central Division by a half-game over the Cleveland Guardians.
