Mike Williams Has High Expectations for Reunion With Justin Herbert

The Los Angeles Chargers made headlines earlier this offseason when they brought back receiver Mike Williams.

The former first-round pick spent the first seven years of his career with the Bolts and is back after just one season away from the team.

Due to his age and injury history, it’s hard to believe the Chargers expect the same production from Williams that he provided in his first stint.

He tore his ACL about a-year-and-a-half ago and looked like a ghost when he was on the field last year.

However, he and Los Angeles are banking on the chemistry that he built with quarterback Justin Herbert to rejuvenate his career a bit.

Voluntary workouts began for the Chargers earlier this week, and to nobody’s surprise, both players were on the field practicing.

When asked about Herbert and the reunion, Williams had this to say, “I’m excited just to get back with him, get on the field and start gaining that connection back and making plays again.”

There’s no doubt that it will take some time for the two to get that rhythm back, but once they do it could be a scary sight for the league.

The duo connected 19 times for touchdowns in just four seasons together.

So, even though athletically Williams is past his prime, he’s still tall enough to pull down a jump ball in the end zone.

The No. 7 overall pick in 2017 became a fan favorite in Los Angeles his first time around.

Fans are hoping he can rekindle the connection with Herbert to ignite that dormant spark they once had for Williams.
