The Sanders family is about to add to its NFL legacy as Shedeur Sanders embarks on his NFL journey. The son of Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has seen his draft stock resemble a roller coaster ride for months.

Sanders was initially believed to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but fell out of favor throughout the process, slipping out of the first round entirely.

Opinions differ depending on who you ask.

Some believe he’s the best quarterback in the class. Others feel it’s only a matter of time until he’s declared a draft bust. Then there are those that center the evaluation on personality, which ranges from a class act to an entitled, arrogant individual.

We’ll eventually learn which side of the argument was correct or whether the answer was somewhere in the middle, but Sanders’ draft journey has been anything but conventional.

Here’s a look at whether Sanders was drafted and which NFL team he’ll be taking his talents to whenever it happens.

Sanders has not been drafted as his wait now extends into the third round.

The Colorado quarterback went from being considered a top pick to dropping out of the first round entirely. While the rumors indicated that a slide was likely, the expectation was that the Pittsburgh Steelers would come calling at No. 21.

Instead, they selected Oregon DT Derrick Harmon, leaving Sanders without a seat when the music stopped on Thursday night.

Expectations are that Sanders should come off the board on Day 2 at some point.

The popular landing spot is with the Cleveland Browns, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter seemed to quiet that talk. He reported on “NFL Live” that Tyler Shough could come off the board before Sanders and added he doesn’t think the Browns, Las Vegas Raiders or New Orleans Saints will be a spot for the Colorado prospect.

(Shough did indeed get drafted before Sanders, going to the Saints.)

Schefter went on to mention that Sanders’ floor appears to be No. 83 in the third round, which is a pick currently owned by the Steelers.

There’s no telling how long the draft wait will be, but he’s certainly not in danger of going undrafted, even if the wait is a little longer than he’d like.
