With the 195th pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected Luke Newman, an offensive lineman from Michigan State.
The Bears acquired this selection in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, seeing their 148th pick and also getting a fourth-round pick in 2026.
Newman (6’3”, 312 pounds) started at left guard for the Spartans last season, his only year with the program, but he also has experience at left tackle from his previous three years at Holy Cross. His future in the NFL will likely be on the interior, with some scouts suggesting a move to center could be in his future.
He was Michigan State’s highest graded offensive lineman according to Pro Football Focus, and they had him down for only allowing nine pressures and no sacks in 2024.
He’s an outstanding athlete with a 9.69 RAS, which ranks as the 55th best among 1,730 guards from 1987 to 2025.
We’ll record an immediate reaction podcast about the selection, so check that out right here as soon as it publishes from our 2nd City Gridiron channels.
