Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 20th Century Figures) for Tuesday, April 29, 2025 (Season 41, Game 167):
After studying business in Chicago in the 1920s, this man obsessed with Sherlock Holmes was an investigator for a credit company
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Rahel Zubairi, a physicial from Scottsdale, Arizona
Ben Ganger, a data analyst from Goshen, Indiana
Erin Morin, a digital pre-press specialist from Aldie, Virginia (1-day total: $29,600)
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
We have a new champion on Jeopardy! in Erin Morin, who ended the 6-game run of Liam Starnes after being the only player to get Final Jeopardy correct. Today, she defends her title for the first time against Arizona’s Rahel Zubairi and Indiana’s Ben Ganger. I would say, though, that Erin will very likely need a second victory (assuming no changes from 2025 to the postseason format) in order to cement a place in the 2026 postseason.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Eliot Ness, whose life and career served as the inspiration for the TV/movie franchise known as The Untouchables (because his team was handpicked for their moral character and incorruptibility), was an American Prohibition agent best known for his efforts fighting against Al Capone in Chicago. While Ness was not behind the tax evasion pursuits against Capone, Ness and his team did significant harm to Capone’s business operations by hampering Capone’s illegal stills and bootlegging. While Capone was indicted of violations of the Volstead Act (the Act permitting Prohibition), the federal judge decided that it was better to have Capone brought up on the tax evasion charges.
I suspect that this will probably play easier for viewers at home who would have seen The Untouchables in the 1980s. We shall see, though.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- I was fine with Ben’s bet sizing on DD2; he was cruising and it’s probably good not to give your opponents too much of an opening. On DD3, though, that was absolutely the time to make a larger bet in order to ensure that Rahel had zero chance of coming back.
- Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Ben $25,900 Rahel $13,400 Erin $2,600)
Erin: Bet no more than $799 for the best chance of second place. (Actual bet: $2,000)
Ben: Standard cover bet is $901. (Actual bet: $901)
Rahel: Bet at least $11,600 to have a chance of winning. (Actual bet: $11,601)
