Notes
• Michigan closes the final week of the regular season with back-to-back games against ranked foes. U-M fell to No. 13 Maryland (71-65) at Crisler before the regular-season finale at No. 8 Michigan State. U-M is 4-4 against top-25 teams.
• With the expansion to 18 conference teams, 15 will qualify for the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan secured a double-bye for the third time. U-M has earned a double-bye in 2019 (runner-up) and 2021 (quarterfinal).
• After No. 1 seed Michigan State and U-M, three teams vying for the final two double-byes. Maryland (13-6) hosts Northwestern, Wisconsin (13-6) hosts Penn State and Purdue (13-6) is at Illinois.
• Michigan suffered its first home loss after falling, 75-62, to Michigan State. It was the third straight loss to the Spartans and the second straight in Ann Arbor. Vladislav Goldin scored 21 points and had five rebounds, while Nimari Burnett had 12 points, and Danny Wolf added 11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
• After a six-game winning streak, Michigan has lost three of its last five games. U-M has 15 games decided by four or fewer points. After U-M fell in four of its first six games, the Wolverines have nine straight wins by four or fewer (11-4).
• Dusty May‘s 14 Big Ten wins give him the most conference victories for a first-year U-M head coach. May bettered Steve Fisher’s first season (12-6; 1989-90).
• In his last six games, Goldin has five 20-plus point games, four 10-plus rebound games, and three double-doubles — averaging 19.2 ppg and 9.7 rpg. Goldin is shooting 63.7 percent — second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally.
• Wolf (12.7 ppg and 9.6 rpg) is second in the Big Ten with 12 double-doubles (Maryland’s Julian Reese, 13). Wolf has 15 of U-M’s 22 10-plus rebound games.
• With 110 assists, Wolf (3.7 apg) trails Tre Donaldson (119; 4.0 apg) for the team lead. Wolf has 10 games of five-plus assists, four of seven-plus and had a career-best nine vs. Arkansas (Dec. 10) in the Jimmy V Classic.
• Wolf has 41 of his 110 assists to Goldin — the most between any two Wolverines.
• After a run of six straight games with 10-plus three-pointers, U-M has had only one game recording the feat since Jan. 27. U-M made 76 (12.7; 46.3%) in its six-game stretch. In the 13 games since, U-M has had 86 (6.6; 28.4%).
