The free agency frenzy is about to begin, and the Chargers are expected to be very active with over $90 million available in cap space.

One of the moves they could make is trading for Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who is believed to have Los Angeles as his top choice, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler added that the Texans are another team that Metcalf is closely watching.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said teams have been told he wants to play for a contender in a warm-weather city, so the Chargers fit that criteria.

The last we heard, Seattle is seeking a first—and third-round pick for Metcalf, but they could drop their asking price.

The 27-year-old Metcalf is a big-time playmaker coming off a season where he nearly topped 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth time in his career.

Metcalf is familiar with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, who served as Seattle’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In those seasons, Metcalf surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and had a career-high yards per reception in 2023 (16.9 YPC).
