‘Harry Potter’ Actor Dies at Age of 63

Simon Fisher-Becker, who acted in prominent projects like Harry Potter and Doctor Who, died on Sunday, March 9. He was 63 years old.

The news was confirmed by his agent and friend, Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management, to Metro.

“Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing,” she shared.

Barry continued, “I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Moldovar in BBC’s Dr Who. Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious and interested in everyone.”

“My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans,” she concluded.

Fisher-Becker’s husband also confirmed the sad news on Facebook, writing on the actor’s account, “Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband. I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away.”

“I’ll be keeping this account open for a while. I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be posting again. Thank you,” Tony finished the message.

Fisher-Becker’s long acting career featured a number of interesting roles, with the late star appearing in a few well-known franchises.

He played the Fat Friar, the ghost of Hufflepuff at Hogwarts, in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Additionally, he brought the character of Dorium Maldovar to life in Doctor Who, acting alongside Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor.

Other interesting projects Fisher-Becker worked on included the Oscar-winning film Les Misérables, and TV shows Puppy Love and Waterside.

Along with his acting work, Fisher-Becker was outspoken about his beliefs and used avenues like his social media to share his thoughts on current events and connect with fans. Only a couple of days before his death, the late actor called for reform in the House of Lords in England.
