H1 7:24, 23-21 OSU — Back and forth

Harding had a Steph Curry-like triple where he rejected the screen and quickly stepped into his shot, and soon after scored another bucket. He looks confident today and has eight points on 3-for-3 shooting.

Pryce Sandfort got on the board with a corner 3, and Thelwell had a nice sweeping layup. Seven different Hawkeyes have scored.

OSU is playing poorly offensively but has done well to get to the line, already with 10 attempts from there to Iowa’s zero.

H1 11:58, 8-8 — Offense improving

Ohio State broke the 10-miss streak with a corner triple, and Dembele got Iowa on the board on a nice putback.

Pryce Sandfort then pushed the ball in transition and found Dix on the wing, who made a nice move to the rim for a layup. Payton Sandfort also got going with a nice midrange jumper.

Harding also scored on a crafty up-and-under in isolation, probably the nicest play of the game thus far.

This has certainly been a physical start to the game, if nothing else. Both sides seem frustrated but determined.

H1 15:47, 3-0 OSU — Ugly, ugly basketball

OSU got to the free-throw line on the opening possession, making one, and both teams played some ugly basketball thereafter.

Neither side has made a field goal yet, combining to shoot 0-of-9 from the floor. It hasn’t been so much a product of great defense as it’s been missed open triples and forced shots inside the arc.

Traore was also forced to the bench with two fouls.

Iowa vs. Ohio State prediction

Iowa played one of its best games recently against Nebraska and Ohio State is no juggernaut. So, if the Hawkeyes can replicate their Nebraska performance, they should put themselves in a position to upend the Buckeyes.

If Iowa were to make it past Wednesday, the road would get much more difficult. But it’s possible that the Hawkeyes’ stay in Indianapolis could include playing in more than one game.

Iowa 79, Ohio State 75.
