The San Francisco Giants have missed the postseason three years in a row, but this season, they’ll be looking to some new additions to end that streak.
State of play: The Giants, who went 80-82 last year, had a busy offseason including bringing back franchise legend Buster Posey as team president and signing shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million deal.
Fun fact: Verlander debuted in 2005, two years before Giants prospect Josuar Gonzalez was born.
Driving the news: San Francisco opens the season Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds at 1:10pm at Great American Ballpark.
The intrigue: The Giants spent most of the 2024 season hovering around .500 and though fans want to see more success, they’re more likely to stick around through rough patches of the 162-game season.
- Fans, on average, said it takes about 11 consecutive losses before they lose hope — which is tied for third-longest among MLB fanbases.
- Their longest losing streak last year hit six games.
