Is Elden Ring hard to mod? ›

Since Elden Ring is available on PC, that's where modding scene is most popular. However, if this is your first time modding a game, it might sound a little confusing. Thankfully, the process is very simple, and even this tutorial video can show you the basics of modding your game in under three minutes.

Easy Mode for Elden Ring provides a good compromise. It's third-party software, meaning it doesn't tamper with the developer's artistic vision (which includes difficulty) unless individual players want to with their offline sessions.

If the mod consists of one or more folders such as "parts" or "chr" or "sfx" (among others), drop the ENTIRE folder into the "mod" folder. The game will now automatically launch through Steam with all the mods you added. Easy Anti Cheat will be disabled such that you won't get banned for playing online with mods.

By default this will load all the mods inside the 'mod' subfolder inside Mod Engine 2. It will also start the game bypassing anticheats, etc. so you factually don't need AC toggler or similar. And, as a result, with clean game true directory and unmodified save files you can safely start the game normally.

This option requires using Mod Engine 2 for Elden Ring. Download it anywhere, for instance the Downloads folder or Desktop, and extract it using 7-Zip or a similar tool. Then, manually download the randomizer zip from the Files tab, place it inside of the ModEngine-2.0.

There is no questioning that the Wretch provides Elden Ring's most challenging experience by far, particularly in the early game. It continues the tradition of the "Deprived" class from Dark Souls by starting the player as a half-naked warrior with low (albeit balanced) stats and a nigh-useless club.

Does Fromsoftware and Bandai Namco disallow the modding of Elden Ring? Neither Fromsoftware nor Bandai Namco disallows modification of Elden Ring, but the game uses Easy Anti Cheat to ensure the online experience isn't compromised. So, we suggest avoiding installing any major online game-changing mods.

Elden Ring can be easier than Dark Souls — but that doesn't mean it will be for any given player. If you take the game on like it is Dark Souls 4 and don't make use of the new tools in Elden Ring (in particular Ashes of War and posture breaking) then it'll be quite difficult. Particularly the late game bosses.

Because you can divide enemy aggro, co-op play is always easier. But the Seamless co-op mod does attempt to compensate for this and scales enemies to be harder to kill as you add more players. It also introduces a difficulty mechanic where if one player dies they accrue "rot," limiting their stats, when they respawn.

Elden Ring comes equipped with Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) to deter cheating in online play. However, this can inadvertently affect other scrupulous players. We've seen countless reports of poor performance, and the game doesn't even launch through Valve's Proton compatibility layer on Linux.

Mod Engine 2 is a ground up rewrite of Mod Engine, a runtime code patching and injection library used for adding modding functionality to the Souls games by FROM Software.

Before doing anything else, you must force Elden Ring into offline mode. If the game detects you using mods while connected to multiplayer servers (even if you're not actively playing with others), it'll presume you're cheating and ban your account from accessing multiplayer content.

Download the file, then extract the file to [MO2 directory]\plugins\basic_games\games. Create new instance in MO2, check "show all support game", then choose Elden Ring. You should now be in the main page of MO2 and it should show you a list of mods and "Elden Ring" on the right with the icon.

To find your save files: its under Local C Drive > Users > YOUR USERNAME > Appdata > ROAMING > ELDEN RING.

Drag the downloaded mod into that folder (you might need to extract it from a zipped file first). Then, return to Steam and launch the game as normal. All installed mods should load. If you want to remove a mod, simply delete its folder or file from the “mods” file.
