Baseball Legend Totally Rips Joey Logano for Talladega Tirade

Joey Logano finished fifth in Sunday’s Cup Series race at Talladega — until he didn’t. NASCAR later disqualified the No. 22 car along with Ryan Preece after failing post-race inspection for violations to the rear spoiler.

Interestingly, after the race, Logano’s finish, which would have been his first top five of the 2025 campaign, wouldn’t have been the main storyline about the three-time champion. Instead, it would have been his profanity-laced tirade at the conclusion of Stage 2 when he blasted his Penske teammate Austin Cindric for not helping push him past Bubba Wallace for the stage win.

“Way to go Austin,” an angry Logano said over the team radio. “Way to go you dumb [expletive]. Way to [expletive] go. What a stupid [expletive]. God. He just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass.”

After the race when interviewed on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, the 34-year-old was asked if he planned to have a conversation with the No. 2 driver this week. “Absolutely,” he said, then refused to elaborate.

Hours after the race and disqualification, Baseball Hall of Famer Chipper Jones took to social media and offered his take on the situation and took direct aim at Logano.

Congrats to @AustinCindric on his @TALLADEGA win,” Jones wrote. “Good teammates are hard to come by, Boss! Remember that one of urs MFed u on national tv, when in all actuality, u did everything possible to keep from wrecking him. Hate to be #dueces in the ‘team’ meeting on Monday. Some people are ‘hooray for our team as long as I’m the star’ as every team has them. Hendrick, RCR, JGR, Penske, etc. Sometimes karma is glorious. Enjoy this one! In case anyone is confused, lemme be clear….@joeylogano”

Jones’ comments, while targeted at Logano, also mentioned other specific NASCAR teams. Which raises another question — who exactly is he talking about?
