Good thing the next slayer has a strong arm… On Wednesday afternoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar announced that the Buffy reboot has found its newest teenage vampire killer: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s star Ryan Kiera Armstrong. In a video posted on Instagram, Gellar broke the news to Armstrong through a Zoom meeting, where Gellar asked her how she felt about helping Gellar “save the world” as the new lead slayer on the show; Gellar will be more of a side character this time around. Armstrong broke down in tears, gleefully accepting the offer— that went a lot better than when Buffy was asked to become the slayer. Poker Face writers Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman will write, showrun, and executive produce the new series, and Chloé Zhao will direct. Controversial series creator Joss Whedon is rightfully not a part of the new Buffy, but some OGs have returned for more. Executive producers for the reboot include Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton; the latter four were executive producers on the original series. Hopefully Parton can drop a track or two for Miss Armstrong to kick ass to.
