CBS Sparks Strong Reaction With Coach K Decision During Duke’s Meltdown

The NCAA Tournament national title game will be played between the Florida Gators and Houston Cougars, but many Duke fans likely thought their team was guaranteed a spot in the title game with just over 30 seconds left to play.

With a 67-61 lead in hand and only 33 seconds left on the clock, the Blue Devils were well-positioned for the win. Instead, the Cougars launched an epic comeback with a 9-0 run to close the game and escape with a 70-67 victory. Following the game, fans and media members couldn’t quite believe a decision from CBS during that nine point run.

They were stunned the network decided not to show former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski during the collapse.

“They show Coach K a million times, heaven forbid they show him when Duke is melting down,” media insider Ryan Glasspiegel quipped. “It’s actually outrageous that CBS didn’t show Coach K while Duke was vomiting all over themselves. We were all deprived his dejection.”

“CBS not giving us a shot of Coach K in the game’s final 15 seconds/postgame was a producing disaster-class,” added another.

“Coach K has made cbs a lot of money over the years. There’s a rarified air of people that even the media won’t use for entertainment, he’s on that short list, and frankly, he’s earned it,” suggested one fan for why CBS made its decision.

In the end, the Blue Devils came up just short of the national title game, which will feature Florida against Houston. The game tips off on Monday, April 7 at 8:50 p.m. ET on CBS.
