Eintracht Frankfurt will have key defender Robin Koch available for Thursday’s second leg of the Europa League last 16 tie against Dutch side Ajax.
“It’s looking very good with Robin Koch, he’s given the green light,” coach Dino Toppmöller said in a news conference on Wednesday.
The player missed the 2-1 win in the first leg in the Netherlands due to a concussion after he had just returned from a shoulder injury.
Toppmöller said that he expects his team “to build on the performance from the first leg and show just the same focus and concentration as in Amsterdam.”
Winger Ansgar Knauff, meanwhile, stressed that nothing is decided yet despite the advantage for the home game.
“We’re going into it with a slight advantage, but we also know it’s a knockout game and nothing is decided yet,” he said.
Frankfurt won the Europa League in the 2021-22 season and hope to repeat the achievement this term.
“It’s going to be very special again. I’ve experienced a lot of special games already here and I’m massively looking forward to it. Us players are fired up and want to go through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League,” Knauff added.
