Jason M 100% Bingeworthy. Exceeded my expectations and has me considering watching the older AMC movies and/or reading the books to get more, but loved this cast so I might just have to wait. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Richie P Gripping from the start. Great characters who still have plenty of scope for development. Fantastic touches of dark humor. Plenty of twists, some obvious and some subtle enough to blur those… Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Vicki Z I can’t help but think this could have been so much better if they had a more interesting case. While there were a couple good twists, the motive wasn’t that clever and the victim was so wretched of a person, I only wanted the detectives to be successful for their own sake – bc I liked them, not bc I cared about her. Pros: compelling cinematography and mostly great acting. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Jon M What a great first couple of episodes, the grip you from the very first few minutes with that shocking start, and then the lead into what is going to be a great series, Matthew Goode is the ideal grumpy lead for this show, not that I am saying he is grumpy, but he does carry it off well. The show is well made, has some great characters and with a lot of well know faces in the cast, this is likely going to run for a long time, well I hope so anyway, there is just so many ways that each series could go, especially with the building blocks of series one ! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Acadene R Morck is entirely unlikeable, along with a lot of other characters within his police department, which would leave most watchers asking, why am I watching this when I can’t engage with any of the characters? Watch on. The dynamics are brilliant and some nuances can be easily missed. Goode’s sociopathic performance as a twisted, sarcastic, cynical police, PTSD affected officer is fascinating and convincing, and pulls it off well. He does have elements of empathy that are truly telling of his underlying humanity. I sat back and imagined if David Tennant could have filled this role as well as Goode does. I believe they would have broken even. A great watch, with some well known actors doing their best stuff in yet another Scottish based crime drama based on the book series by Danish crime writer Jussi Adler-Olsen adapted to Journal 64 The Purity of Vengeance. The transition is made well, with the moody scottish scenery. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Bix M L I don’t know why this detective is refered to as brilliant, when he is anything but. He is just an ignorant asshole but somehow show writers love to sell us these characters as clever and yes, brilliant. Without Akram this douche would not get anything done except complaining.
