HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed a plane crashed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton Thursday, while the pilot was attempting to land.
According to officials, around 11:50 a.m., an MX Aircraft MXS — a two-seat sport aircraft — crashed while attempting to land at the base.
The pilot was the only person onboard at the time of the incident. No officials have confirmed yet if the pilot sustained any injuries.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, with the NTSB leading the investigation.

Joint Base Langley-Eustis issued a statement Thursday afternoon, saying, “The safety and security of our personnel and the local community are our top priorities.”
