It also would not be a shock if additional parishes are included in the watch later on. Windy weather continues Saturday with a chance to see a couple strong-to-severe thunderstorms by the late afternoon.

The next cold front will approach and showers will begin to develop more during the afternoon especially after 3 PM. While we should not see too many thunderstorms in the first part of the afternoon, any that do form will have the chance to turn strong-to-severe.

The greatest threat of severe weather will likely remain north of SWLA, but our threat is not zero either. In fact, a few strong to severe storms are possible after 3 PM especially if any storms can maintain their strength from Texas into our area. Damaging winds are the primary concern in that scenario, but an isolated tornado would be possible as well. Even outside of storms, winds will still gust between 40-50 mph at times

The bottom line is to stay weather aware this afternoon and evening and have multiple ways of receiving warnings.
Showers and storms will taper off as we head into Sunday and then the focus will become the cooler temperatures moving in.

Highs will go from the lower 80s Saturday to the upper 60s and a stiff breeze Sunday afternoon.
Overnight temperatures will be chilly as well as we are dipping back into the upper 40s. Cooler weather will stick around for a few days, but by the end of next week, we are looking at highs to return to the upper 70s to near 80.
