CLEVELAND (WJW/AP) — Baseball is back!
After nine road games and an entire spring in Arizona, the Cleveland Guardians will finally come home for the first time in 2025.
The Guards will face off against the Chicago White Sox in front of a sold-out crowd tonight, with first pitch at 4:10 p.m.
The Guards started off the season winning in Kansas City, defeating the Royals in extra innings in the season opener. Cleveland won the series two to 1.
But the Guards got swept right out of San Diego in three straight games. During that three-game sweep from the Padres, the Guardians’ defense committed four errors.
They lead Major League Baseball with a total of nine errors in the first nine games of the season.
The Guardians then went to Anaheim over the weekend and lost the three-game series two to one to the Angels.
Cleveland had a 92-69 record overall and a 50-30 record at home last season. The Guardians’ pitching staff had a collective 3.61 ERA last season while averaging 8.9 strikeouts and 3.1 walks per nine innings.
Chicago went 41-121 overall and 18-63 in road games last season. The White Sox slugged .340 as a team in the 2024 season while hitting 0.8 home runs per game.
