The Denver Broncos entered the 2025 NFL Draft with seven picks, but with three of those all in the sixth round. It didn’t stay that way, though. George Paton was wheelin’ and dealin’ on day two when nearly every single one of their picks after the first round changed in the process.
By the end of it, they would draft seven players with a total of four trades on the weekend. Four of those players were drafted in those first two days and the rest on day three.
Here is your 2025 Denver Broncos draft class! Welcome to Denver!!
There was plenty of talk of the Broncos moving up for a tight end and then talk of them moving back, but the tight end talk was subterfuge. The only player they were watching for a potential move up was Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and that dream was ended by the hated Las Vegas Raiders. Instead, they watched another player rated very high on their board fall right into their laps with the 20th overall pick in Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron.
For all the talk, the Broncos stayed put and ended up with a player many considered to be a Top 10 talent. Day 2, however, was a completely different story. As the 51st pick arrived, the Broncos made not one trade, but two trades to move back nine spots and accumulated an extra fourth round pick in the process.
With that 60th overall pick in the second round, they selected a home run hitting UCF running back RJ Harvey. He is described as a ‘Sean Payton’ type running back and that connection to Payton’s system only grew strong with the Broncos 74th overall pick early in the third round when they took Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant. It seemed like their day was done, but when the Philadelphia Eagles arrived with the second-to-last pick in the third round the Broncos pounced trading away one of their extra fourth round picks to select LSU defensive end Sai’vion Jones with the 101st overall selection.
In the fourth round, the Broncos stood pat and selected Alabama edge rusher Quandarrius ‘Que’ Robinson with the 134th overall pick. He was a special team standout for Nick Saban who said, “He’s been a core special teams guy for us and one of our better special teams players probably ever, here.”
What is more enticing about Robinson is how productive of a pass rusher he was in very limited opportunities at Alabama. In just 163 career pass rushing snaps, he generated 25 pressures and five sacks. This might end up being one of the best hidden gem picks the Broncos have made in years if Robinson translates that ability at the NFL level.
George Paton and Sean Payton dialed up another trade in the sixth round, picking up an extra pick in the seventh. With the trade back, they took Florida punter Jeremy Crawshaw with the 216th overall pick and the final pick in the sixth round. With their final pick of the draft, Denver selected Utah tight end and power forward Caleb Lohner 241st overall to conclude their draft class.
