There are numerous up-and-coming fighters featured throughout the “Sin City” card this weekend, but let’s give you one to really keep your eyes on.
Without further ado …
Dana White’s Contender Series – Gurule v Piccininni
After grinding on the regional scene, Luis Gurule (10-0) finally got his shot on season eight of Contender Series last year and seized the opportunity. Stepping in on short notice—roughly a month after submitting Jacob Silva in the main event of Fury FC 96—he defeated the highly touted three-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler Nick Piccininni to secure a UFC contract.
Now, he’s set to make his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 105 against Ode Osbourne.

I genuinely believe “Grim” had the talent to join the UFC years ago, even as early as his 4-0 mark, but in retrospect, the extra experience he’s accumulated has only strengthened his game.
Gurule honed his skills at Factory X, a premier mixed martial arts (MMA) gym in Colorado, before parting ways to train alongside Brandon Royval and Alexander Hernandez—fellow Factory X alumni—in a tight-knit group currently dubbed “The Boyz.”
At 31, Gurule brings devastating knockout power and relentless aggression to the cage, underpinned by elite wrestling and rock-solid takedown defense. Though he’s been taken down before, he bounces back to his feet effortlessly and keeps marching down his opponents.
He’s a physically imposing figure at Flyweight. While not particularly tall, his stocky, muscular frame gives him an edge, especially when he leans on his wrestling.

His one glaring flaw? He’s hittable. That vulnerability makes this weekend’s clash with Osbourne intriguing, given Osbourne’s own reputation for explosive power.
Still, it’s an ideal debut test for Gurule. If Osbourne can’t finish him within the first five minutes, he’ll likely face a grueling 10-minute reality check.
All in all, Gurule is a promising Flyweight contender, poised to give a slew of opponents fits in the division.
