Hopping between warm and cool weather: What to know about Metro Detroit’s Easter forecast

The cooldown continues in Metro Detroit.

Friday brought highs in the 80s to Southeast Michigan, but temperatures were 15 to 25 degrees cooler on Saturday afternoon.

Clouds will decrease Saturday night and skies will become partly cloudy. Lows will be in the lower-40s in Detroit, Southgate and Monroe. Temperatures will fall into the lower- to mid-30s north of M-59. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

What is in the weather basket for Easter?

Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds on Sunday. There is a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon and evening. Clouds will increase in the afternoon, and spotty showers will be possible after 4 p.m. Take an umbrella or rain jacket, but the rain chances are not high enough to warrant changing outdoor plans.

Highs will range from 50- to 55 degrees. Easterly winds will be 8 to 12 mph.

Sunday night’s skies will be mostly cloudy. The chance of rain showers will return overnight. Lows will be in the mid-40s.

Monday

A low-pressure system will move over the Great Lakes region on Monday. It will be warm and windy, with showers and the chance of a few thunderstorms. Temperatures will peak around 70 degrees. Winds will be out of the southwest in the morning and become southeasterly at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, in the afternoon.

Skies will be partly cloudy on Monday night. Lows will be in the lower-40s.

Looking Ahead

The 70-degree weather will make a comeback starting Wednesday and lasting through the workweek. A stray rain shower will be possible on Wednesday, and scattered showers will be possible on Thursday and Friday.

Metro Detroit’s average highs for next week are in the lower-60s, and the average lows are in the lower-40s. The average last freeze is also next week, but freezing temperatures can occur in May.
