The Rockets face the Lakers on Friday in Los Angeles and may very well limit some of their starters as they did in Wednesday’s 134-117 loss to the the Clippers. The Lakers are trying to wrap up the No. 3 seed. Check back here for more pregame and postgame reports.
With the No. 2 seed already secured, the Rockets are sitting most of their rotation players against the Lakers. Houston ruled out Dillon Brooks (rest), Tari Eason (injury management), Alperen Sengun (personal reasons), Jabari Smith Jr. (left groin soreness), Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle soreness), Amen Thompson (rest) and Fred VanVleet (right ankle soreness).

For the second game in a row, guard Jalen Green is the only Rockets starter playing — presumably to preserve his streak of consecutive games started, which is the third-longest active streak in the NBA at 184 going into Friday’s game. Green played just 15 first-half minutes in the Rockets’ loss to the Clippers on Wednesday and will likely play limited minutes again vs. the Lakers.
Los Angeles will be without Maxi Kleber (foot) in its last matchup of the regular season with the Rockets. LeBron James (left groin strain) is in the starting lineup for the Lakers after being probable heading into the night.
