Film’s biggest night is here. The 97th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2 at 7 p.m. ET at the Dolby Theater. Conan O’Brien will host this year’s ceremony, marking the Emmy-winning comedian’s first stint as host.

The broadcast is set to air live on ABC and Hulu. A red carpet pre-show will precede the ceremony at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. “Emilia Pérez,” a polarizing musical about a drug kingpin who undergoes gender affirming surgery, leads this year’s nominations with 13 nods including Best Picture. It’s followed closely by “The Brutalist,” a historical epic the examines the Jewish immigrant experience, and “Wicked,” the hit Broadway adaptation, which both nabbed 10 nominations.
Other Best Picture nominees include “Conclave,” a thriller about the election of a new pope, and “A Complete Unknown,” the Timothée Chalamet-led Bob Dylan biopic, alongside indies “Anora,” “Nickel Boys,” and “I’m Still Here,” as well as the body horror film, “The Substance,” and “Dune: Part Two,” one of the rare studio blockbusters to garner Oscar attention.
The 2025 Oscar season has been one of the most hectic in recent memory. It’s a wide-open race in several of the Academy Award’s major categories following surprise wins at the SAG Awards and early front-runner “Emilia Perez” being derailed by controversy. The tumultuous awards season was hit further by the Los Angeles fires, which pushed the deadline for voting and nomination announcements.
