Ahead of the IPL 2025 matches at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad City Police has issued a traffic advisory. Restrictions will be enforced on specific dates during Gujarat Titans’ home matches to manage traffic and ensure public safety. Certain routes will be restricted, with alternative routes provided, and violations will result in penalties under relevant laws.

NEW DELHI: The city police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for Saturday, April 19, in light of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.

The match, set to begin at 3.30 pm, is expected to attract a significant number of spectators, including VVIPs, celebrities, sports professionals, and fans, leading to heavy traffic movement around the stadium.

To manage the influx and ensure public safety, Commissioner of Police G. S. Malik has enforced traffic restrictions under Order No. G/Upak/Traffic/10/2025. The restrictions will be in effect from two hours before the match until two hours after it ends.

Key traffic restrictions:

The stretch from Janpath T Junction via ONGC Circle and Tapovan Circle to the stadium’s main gate will be closed to all general vehicular traffic during restricted hours.
Only local residents, emergency service vehicles, and official match-related transport will be permitted through the restricted zones.
Diversion routes have been planned, and signage will be placed to guide motorists to alternate paths.

Matchday security & enforcement:

A heavy police presence will be deployed at major intersections and entry points near the stadium.
Traffic personnel will assist in controlling the flow, guiding vehicles, and ensuring compliance with the advisory.
The enforcement falls under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and violators may face legal action under the provisions of the Indian Justice Code and the Gujarat Police Act.

Upcoming matches:

This advisory is part of a season-long traffic regulation plan for all home matches of the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Other high-profile games scheduled include fixtures against teams such as Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Public advisory:

Authorities have requested the public to avoid the Motera area during match hours and to use alternative routes to prevent delays. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with enforcement officials.
