Pop superstar Justin Bieber‘s grandfather Bruce has passed away.
“Bruce Dale, age 80, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth on Thursday, April 24, 2025…Bruce was also loved and will be missed by his sons and daughters; Candie Toper (Joe), Chris Mallette, Chris Dale (Michelle) and Pattie Mallette, grandchildren; Amanda Buck, Justin Bieber (Hailey) and Chantel McNaught (Brian) and by his great grandchildren; Austin, Lucas, Riley, Raymond, Reese and Jack-Blues,” his obituary reads.
Justin confirmed the loss in a heartbreaking Instagram tribute in which the singer shared a photo of himself as a teenager with his late grandfather with a lengthy caption reminiscing on their close bond.

The 31-year-old wrote: “Papa , I always took all ur money lol. I remember u specifically telling me, gramma gave u an allowance of 20 dollars for the WEEK! I would always convince you to spend on snacks at the hockey game on Friday nights. Reluctantly you always gave it to me. Corn nuts, skittles, gum balls, chuck a puck, slush puppies.”

He continues: “Shout out to the jr b referees Beatty, Fagon, Flanagan lmfao
For enduring all of my grandpas heckling for all of your horrible referee calls lmfao , my grandpa wasn’t shy in letting them know that they were being pieces of s—-.”
“I can’t wait to see u again soon in heaven . Until then I know ur watching down probly still heckling Beatty or Fagon for missing that cross check call in the corner there lmfao”
“I will miss u. I will ache And I’ll sit and let myself remember all of the wonderful times we’ve had,” the tribute concludes.
Justin’s grandfather was always one of his biggest supporters. He appeared in the ‘Baby’ singer’s 2011 documentary film ‘Never Say Never.’ The 3-D concert film followed Justin as he prepared to perform at a sold out Madison Square Garden and featured clips during his ‘My World Tour’ shows.
In a 2018 interview at the Steps to Stardom Exhibition at Stratford Perth Museum in the singer’s hometown, Bruce teared up as he shared: “Seeing him on the stage for the first time was amazing.”
He added: “I can sit and talk with anybody about anything, but when it comes to talking about him I get emotional.”
The Canadian singer’s tribute post was flooded with condolences and supportive comments from fans and celebrities alike.
