The Storyline

Portland Timbers (4th in West, 3-2-2, 14pts) vs. Los Angeles FC (7th in West, 4-4-0, 12pts)

The Timbers have extended their unbeaten run to five matches following their 4-2 win in Kansas City last Sunday. Kevin Kelsy (2g) and David Ayala (1g, 1a) led the way for the Green & Gold in Missouri, earning MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 8 honors shortly after. Goalkeeper James Pantemis again showed his spot kick instincts, saving one of two Dejan Jovelić pens to up his record to four PK saves out of five for Portland.

Up next three-straight battles against California clubs with the first begin LAFC.

The Black & Gold come to town for the first and only time in 2025 this Saturday for the first of two matchups between the two this season. Timbers-LAFC has historically been a competitive matchup; in 17 all-time meetings in MLS, the Timbers have only failed to score in one match, and have shutout Los Angeles only twice. Their matchups have averaged 3.3 goals per game, with LAFC scoring 30 goals and the Timbers tallying 27.
