SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following medical update on outfielder Victor Robles. He was placed on the 10-day injured list yesterday (Monday, April 7).
Robles (ROBE-lace), 27, suffered a dislocated left shoulder in the bottom of the 9th inning on Sunday, April 6 in San Francisco after making a spectacular catch in foul territory on a batted ball from Patrick Bailey.
Imaging taken yesterday (Monday, April 7) in Seattle revealed the dislocation caused a small fracture in the humeral head in his left shoulder.
Currently it appears the fracture will heal without requiring surgery. However, that will be monitored to confirm it remains the case.
If no surgery is required, the fracture should heal in approximately six weeks. Following full healing, a rehabilitation schedule of approximately six weeks would be required.
Robles is batting .273 (12×44) with 3 runs, 3 doubles and is 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts through 10 games this season. Since joining the Mariners on June 5 of last season, Robles has played in 87 games with the Mariners. He is batting .319 (87×273) with 44 runs, 23 doubles, 4 homers, 29 RBI, 16 walks and is 33-for-34 in stolen base attempts.
The right-handed hitting outfielder began his career with the Washington Nationals, appearing in 8 big-league seasons for them from 2017–24. Robles was the starting center fielder on the 2019 World Series-winning Nationals team. He originally signed with Washington as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic on July 2, 2013.
