Following a 117-95 upset victory in Game 1, the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to extend their series lead to 2-0 over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Minnesota released its Status Report for Game 2, and the players left off of it should come as a relief to Timberwolves fans.
The lone player listed on Game 2’s Status Report is rookie guard Rob Dillingham, who’s dealing with a right ankle sprain.
Dillingham was listed as questionable on Game 1’s Status Report before officially being listed as out in the team’s official game injury report.
Through 49 games played and one started this season, Dillingham averaged 4.5 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 rebound on 44/34/53 shooting splits. While the eighth-overall pick from the 2024 NBA Draft has not had an ideal rookie season, this could be yet another example of a smaller guard simply needing time to develop into a consistently dependable player, like Cleveland Cavaliers all-star guard Darius Garland.
The main takeaway from this Status Report is the absence of Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid on it, who both sustained mid-game injuries on Saturday.
Edwards went to the locker room during Game 1 after cramping. He ultimately returned and helped the team close out its victory.
“I was just cramping,” Edwards said when asked about the injury postgame.
Reid, who took an elbow in the eye from Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt in Game 1, looks to also be all cleared for Game 2 after leading the Timberwolves with six made threes on Saturday.
Game 2 will tip off at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles as the Timberwolves look to extend their series lead to two games.
