Officials are still surveying storm damage in North Texas, and the total number of tornadoes is likely to increase. There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths caused by the storms.

The storms damaged buildings and downed trees in several locations across North Texas, but by 8 a.m. Sunday morning, storms mostly moved out of the area toward far East Texas.

Dry Creek Estates is a neighborhood northwest of downtown Weatherford where multiple roofs were ripped off. Two of the homes were damaged so severely and shifted on their foundations, and will have to be inspected to see if they have to be torn down and completely rebuilt.

Developer Zane Nixon’s most important advice for homeowners was to approach their insurance coverage carefully, too.

“As nice as the adjusters are, they work for the insurance company and they are there representing the insurance company,” Nixon said. “So if you don’t have someone there that is representing you to take care of your side of things, and to look out for your best interests, then you’re really just kind of gambling.”

The Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and Hood County confirmed several homes were damaged by a tornado near Weatherford Saturday night. Most of the damage was found near Tolar, southwest of Granbury, officials said.

At least one home was destroyed in the storm and several others sustained major damage, Hood County said in a statement.

WFAA viewer Chris Jackson captured a video of a tornado forming around 8 a.m. Saturday, north of Hico, Texas in Hamilton County.
