New “unexpected” Harlan Coben series that’s “edge-of-the-seat” thriller just dropped on Netflix

It’s an exciting time to be a Harlan Coben fan, because another TV adaptation just dropped globally on Netflix today.

Following Missing You, which launched in January, and more recently the quiet arrival of Just One Look, Coben’s Caught (Atrapados) – a new Argentinian limited series – is ready to binge.

Based on another of his best-selling novels, the official synopsis for the show reads: “In Argentinian Patagonia’s city of Bariloche, journalist Ema Garay rises to prominence in digital media by exposing criminals who manage to evade the law…

“Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Leo Mercer, a respected community figure who becomes the prime suspect in her investigation into the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl. As she searches for the truth, Ema finds herself forced to confront her own demons…”

The book was published in 2011, and the story has mostly rave reviews from readers.

One described it as “another fast paced, edge of your seat novel from HC”, while another added: “Coben is consistently producing edge-of-the-seat thrillers. This one is no different…”

“It’s a story very well told and all the way through he takes different little turns with it and I was wondering… was our protagonist guilty or not?,” one reader said. “I changed my mind about him almost all the way through. That’s very cleverly done indeed.”

The TV adaptation marks Harlan Coben’s first production in Argentina. The cast includes Soledad Villamil (The Secret in Their Eyes) as the lead character of Ema Garay, Matías Recalt (who previously starred in one of Netflix’s most-watched movies, Society of the Snow) and Alberto Ammann (Narcos).

This production is the latest to come from the creative partnership between the popular author and streaming giant Netflix, and we already know that there’s another – Run Away, starring James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones – currently filming.

Caught is available on Netflix now. Run Away is yet to confirm a release date.
